What You Can Take

- Electrical equipment (fridges, freezers, washing machines)
- Furniture (sofas, beds, wardrobes)
- Mattresses
- Wood (treated and untreated)
- Paint (limit: 5 litres per household per month, in sealed container)
- Engine oil (limit: 10 litres per household per 6 months, in sealed container)

Most household waste: Free

Chargeable items:
- Plasterboard (large quantities)

Ask staff on arrival if you're unsure whether an item is chargeable.

---

Vans, Trailers & Pickup Trucks

For commercial vehicle permit information, visit hants.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling/recyclingcentres or contact the council.

---

On-Site Reuse Shop

The HWRC has a reuse shop on site. Usable items (furniture, electrical goods, etc.) are offered for sale at low prices. Worth checking out if you need secondhand household items.

---

Tips Before You Visit

- Book early during summer — June to August slots fill faster.
- Bring ID — Hampshire County Council may ask to verify your address.
- Sort your waste at home if possible — it speeds up the tipping process.
- Don't bring hazardous waste (asbestos, explosives, fuel, medicines) — the site staff will refuse it.
- Check your booking confirmation — it will have your time slot.
- Arrive a few minutes early — latecomers may lose their slot.

---

Alternative Disposal Options

Garden waste: Eastleigh operates a separate garden waste collection subscription. Check hants.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling for the current scheme.

Bulky items (sofa, cooker, bed frame): Some items can be collected from home by the council for a fee. Contact Hampshire County Council directly.

E-waste (fridges, TVs, computers): The HWRC accepts most electrical waste. Alternatively, some retailers accept items you're replacing.
